Faculty Training Options

Everyone learns new technology at their own pace and SUNY CPD has created a system to help you pick the most efficient learning path for Brightspace. Please refer to SUNY’s training website (DLE Training) for up-to-date information.

SUNY CPD has released their Fall 2022 Bulletin of the summary of learning opportunities.

The following modes of training are available and the same topics are covered in each mode. Topics include digital pedagogy, accessibility, universal design for learning, Brightspace user interface, communication tools, authoring content, grade book, gradable activities, and course management

  1. SUNY Asynchronous Online: Progress through online modules at your own pace. No registration required.
    • Available in MCC’s Brightspace instance. The course is listed in your My Courses area. You may work in sequence or skip through the information as needed. An optional certificate is available which requires completing test questions after each module.
  2. SUNY Scaled Webinars: Targeted for larger audiences, offer demonstrations and an opportunity to ask questions. Pick and choose the relevant topics to you. Registration is ongoing.
  3. SUNY Synchronous Sessions: Targeted for a small audience. Point-and-click workshops offered via Zoom that cover the Brightspace Fundamentals. Registration is ongoing.

MCC Migration Sessions

While the SUNY training helps you understand Brightspace functionality if you are building from the ground up, it does not help you to fully understand the migration process. This session was designed to help you to understand how you can migrate your content from Blackboard.

Getting Started with Migration Recording (50 min video)

We will work with faculty to log in to Brightspace, explain the navigation, the available course shells, how to move content from Blackboard to Brightspace through the export/import process, and how to begin working through the cleanup process.
