The MCC Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges hosts interesting and informative events and provides excellent networking opportunities. Native American Heritage Day

On Tuesday, November 19, the AAWCC sponsored Native American Heritage Day with a special guest speaker, Kimberly Faqua.  Kimberly is a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.  She resides outside of Syracuse, NY and works at Onondaga Community College with the Native student population and is the Assistant Director of Housing and Student Conduct.  Kimberly has a passion for education and has over 15 years of experience in the classroom and working in higher ed.  She graduated from Cornell University in 2021 with a Master of Public Administration.  She has studied in England as well as received her bachelor’s in special education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2019.  She has two children and two grandchildren, and she lives her best Central New York life with her partner and mother.

City of Rochester Public Market Tour

On Saturday, October 26, the AAWCC hosted a City of Rochester Public Market tour.  The tour highlighted the amazing history of this remarkable location, and tokens were given to be used at the Market or for lunch!

Fall Meet & Greet

Also in October, the AAWCC hosted a Fall Meet & Greet on October 9 at Deja Brew.  Current members received $5 gift cards for their coffee at Deja Brew.
