MCC President’s Tribute to 9/11 Victims and Heroes
September 7, 2021
“The September 11th Remembrance Walk at Monroe Community College emerged out of the caring and compassionate spirit of student leaders in 2002 who wanted to memorialize the tremendous sacrifices made on that clear fall day, 20 years ago.
“We are grateful to our alumni for giving our community a place to remember the 2001 terrorist attacks, our community partners who helped match the students’ vision for the monument, and current MCC student leaders for ensuring this year’s ceremony reflects this poignant anniversary.
“As the daughter of a Korean War veteran, I join the College community in paying tribute to the men and women who perished that day and to the heroic first responders and service members who answered the call of duty to ensure our safety and freedom.”
