Monroe Community College Celebrates Fifth Consecutive Year of Enrollment Growth to Start the New Academic Year

Brighton, N.Y. August 21, 2025 – Monroe Community College is proud to announce its fifth straight year of enrollment growth. This fall, over 9,000 full-time and part-time students are enrolled, marking an increase of more than 6% compared to last year. Among the students, more than 400 are part of the SUNY Reconnect program, which aims to strengthen New York’s workforce and meet the rising demand for skilled talent in key industries. MCC offers 29 programs eligible for SUNY Reconnect.

“A fifth consecutive year of enrollment growth demonstrates how Monroe Community College leads by providing students with what they need, where they need it, when they need it, and how they need it,” said Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, Monroe Community College President. “MCC continues to build on our tradition of innovation by adapting to a rapidly changing world to transform lives and play a vital role in our community’s success.“

“More students enrolling at MCC each year reflects the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff to provide a high-quality education to all who seek it,” said Dr. Michael Jacobs, Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. “Our MCC community works collaboratively toward the common goal of fostering an environment where students can thrive and guiding them along a path of continued success.”

Other exciting facts about this academic year at MCC include:

  • Construction is underway for the 110,000-square-foot Advanced Technology Center, which is on track to open in Fall 2026.
  • Leading workforce training as part of the STEP-UP Initiative, which is a component of the NY I-Corridor Tech Hub.
  • New Geospatial Information Science Technology lab
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) System for Electrical Engineering Technology

Classes officially begin for the fall 2025 semester on Monday, August 25, 2025. The spring semester will start on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
