MCC Proud: Meet Danielle Froment

December 18, 2024

Danielle Froment, who started in July 2024, is an Office Clerk for Monroe Community College’s (MCC) Advisement & Transfer Services Department.

Prior to joining MCC, Froment was a vice president in banking for over twenty years. “I was successful, but it wasn’t gratifying,” she said.

So, when Froment turned 50 years old, she decided to move back to Rochester (after 30 years away) with her son. MCC was one of only two places that she applied to.

“My priority was to work in a job that’s more fulfilling,” she said. “A new start in a better place!”

While Froment has only been at MCC for a short period of time, the college’s student-centered philosophy has impressed her – describing how well her department handled the change to a Success Coach model. Under this model, students have one point of contact throughout their time at MCC.

She noted, “In the midst of change and uncertainty, every advisor was thinking in terms of the needs of the students, both at school and in life. There was zero ego involved. It’s a privilege working in an environment like this, and I admire the integrity of these people tremendously.”

Froment graduated from Rochester’s School of the Arts before attending Northwestern University in Chicago. “School of the Arts was a haven for any kind of artistic experimentation!” she said. “I had a wonderful experience there.”

Outside of MCC, Froment is involved in a number of artistic endeavors, including a writing group based out of Tampa, FL (with people from all over the country).

“I’ve been writing short stories for about five years,” said Froment. “I did some writing in high school, and some writing for performance at NU, but hadn’t done anything for many years after.”

She has been published in The Normal School, Rundelania, an upcoming Anthology out of Tampa, FL, and now Literally Stories.

Her short story, “Gifted,” was recently published in the online literary journal, Literally Stories.

She was also cast in the Rochester Community Players’ summer production of Prince of Tyre, but had to drop out for medical reasons.

“I will definitely get involved in theater and writing. Obviously, a lot has changed in Rochester over the last 30 years, so I’m still exploring,” added Froment.

When asked what advice she would give current students or those considering enrolling in MCC, Froment said, “I would tell students that they belong here and they should behave that way. There is no such thing as entitlement. Build relationships with professors, go to office hours, speak up and ask for support. This school has a lot to offer anyone who isn’t shy to ask, and it can change lives.”

Fun Facts:

  • Favorite Sports Team? The Tampa Bay Lightning. The only good thing about living in Florida was going to see my boys…
  • Is there anything about you that people are surprised to learn? The banking thing usually throws people for a loop. It’s a very conservative environment, and it never suited me.
  • If you could attend a dinner with any celebrity, living or dead, who would you choose? Barack Obama
