FWD Center to Host Open House for Community Residents

Facility focused on accelerated training programs to get individuals quickly into careers
WHAT: Residents in Rochester and across the Finger Lakes region will have a firsthand look at Industry 4.0 technologies that are driving the future of work during an Aug. 28 open house at the Finger Lakes Workforce Development (FWD) Center. The event aims to increase community members’ awareness of how programs in health care, robotics, augmented reality/virtual reality, automation, and information technology available at the FWD Center can lead to in-demand jobs that pay family-sustaining wages. The event is free and open to all community members, from high school and college students to working parents, military veterans, and individuals who are unemployed or underemployed.
WHERE: Fifth and sixth floors of the Finger Lakes Workforce Development Center on MCC’s Downtown Campus, 321 State St. in Rochester; parking is provided in lot AA. (See campus map.)
WHEN: 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28
DETAILS:
- Free tuition to individuals who register for noncredit programs during the open house
- Self-guided tours and equipment demonstrations
- Information on career exploration, counseling services and job-placement assistance
First 50 attendees will receive tickets to a Red Wings baseball game on Aug. 29.
