MCC Proud: Meet Ginny Geer-Mentry

October 14, 2026

Ginny Geer-Mentry is a 15-year veteran of Monroe Community College (MCC) and serves as Executive Director of the MCC Association, a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to supporting the College’s mission. In this role, she oversees a diverse portfolio of services and operations, including the Bookstore, Campus Center Service Desk, Child Care Center, Dining and Vending Contracts, and Housing and Residence Life. The Association also serves as the fiduciary steward of student life fees, which support key student programs and services such as athletics, student life initiatives, commencement, photo ID services, and Orientation/FYE.

“I function as the chief operation officer for the corporation and report to the MCC Association Board,” said Geer-Mentry.

Her commitment to MCC is rooted in a lifelong passion for higher education. Geer-Mentry has been working in the field since she was 19 years old. “I believe we at MCC help students and they in turn help all of us by making society better,” she said.

Looking back on her career, Geer-Mentry has many fond memories. Yet the accomplishment she considers most significant is one that may not stand out to others. She led the effort for the MCC Association to secure its own bond rating from S&P, allowing the organization to obtain more favorable financing for the residence halls. “It may not sound big, but it will probably have the longest impact of anything I have ever done because the residence halls have fixed interest and payments for 25 years,” she said.

When asked what advice she would give current or prospective MCC students, Geer-Mentry said, “MCC is a great college. The faculty are here to teach, and all of the supports are here. If you are interested in an education, MCC is the place to go.”

Outside of work, Geer-Mentry is actively involved in several community organizations. She serves as the Treasurer of Chances and Changes, a Livingston County domestic violence support organization, and the Lakeville Community Food Pantry. “I enjoy volunteering in the community,” she said.

A graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Geer-Mentry later earned her MBA from Medaille.
