MCC Proud: Dr. Dan Raimondo

August 13, 2025

Dr. Dan Raimondo has been with Monroe Community College (MCC) since the fall of 2006, holding various positions across Economic Development & Innovative Workforce Services (EDIWS), Academic Services, and Student Services. He is currently the Director of Campus Events, providing leadership and oversight of college event facilities.

He holds a doctorate in higher education administration from the University at Buffalo, a master’s in student personnel administration from SUNY Buffalo, bachelor’s degrees in physical education and business administration from SUNY Brockport, and an associate’s degree in business administration from Erie Community College.

Raimondo developed an interest in higher education while working at TGI Friday’s. After graduating from SUNY Brockport, he traveled across the country, opening new restaurants and training their waitstaff in sales techniques.

“I fell in love with teaching/training, so I went back for my master’s degree in education, thinking I would study to become a college professor,” he said. “To cover tuition expenses, I was offered a position as a graduate assistant in the Student Activities and College Union office at Buffalo State College. I immediately fell in love with student development outside of the classroom and wound-up graduating in student personnel/higher education and the rest is history.”

When asked for his most memorable moment at MCC, Raimondo was reminded of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. MCC was chosen as a location for two presidential hopefuls to visit. “I had the opportunity to work alongside the lead Secret Service Agent during the week prior to the two candidates’ visit,” he said. “I was afforded an all-access pass to all the preparations and precautions taken leading up to the visit. Truly, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience getting to work with and personally get to know an agent.”

When asked what advice he’d give current or prospective MCC students, Raimondo said “When meeting for the first time, introduce yourself to your professors and College staff, be polite and respectful. In a formal setting, unless you’re specifically instructed to do otherwise, add their title to your greeting (Dr., Professor, etc.), a casual hello and goodbye is usually sufficient to build a positive relationship, demonstrate respect, and possibly improve your academic results.”

Dr. Raimondo has presented and volunteered at national conferences and was named “Outstanding New Professional” and “Outstanding Mid-Level Professional” by the Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education Association (NASPA). Dan is also a graduate of the President’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship at MCC.

Prior to MCC, Raimondo worked at SUNY Buffalo, Canisius College, and SUNY Brockport, both as adjunct faculty and in student services leadership roles. Throughout his career, Raimondo has taught students, managed college-wide budgets, and served on various committees at both the intra-college and SUNY-wide levels, as well as within national professional associations.

Outside of MCC, Dan is active in his community. He is a father of four, grandfather of two, and lives with his wife, Patty, in Brockport.
