MCC Awards Record $2 Million in Scholarships

August 4, 2025

Brighton, NY – August 4, 2025 – Monroe Community College (MCC) awarded a record $2 million in scholarships this academic year, thanks to the generosity of donors giving to the Monroe Community College Foundation. This total surpasses the previous record of $1.65 million in awards. Seventy-six percent of the scholarships awarded were based on financial need.

“The MCC Foundation is a champion of our mission to transform lives and communities by providing scholarships that enable students to attend college who might not otherwise be able to,” said Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, Monroe Community College President. “Together as one, we are creating bright futures by unlocking opportunities for students to pursue higher education degrees and certificates, which lead to family-sustaining wages.”

“Foundation Directors and dedicated donors are motivated to invest in MCC students because they see their impact on our community every day,” said Maureen Wolfe, executive vice president and director of human resources and community impact at ESL and chair of the MCC Foundation Board of Directors. “It is a privilege to work with these outstanding leaders to ensure MCC has the resources it needs to help every student succeed.”

“This achievement reflects the passion, dedication, and generosity of our entire MCC community,” said Gretchen Wood, CFRE, vice president, Institutional Advancement, and executive director, MCC Foundation. “We extend our sincerest gratitude to our hardworking students, exceptional faculty and staff, and to the donors whose support turns dreams into reality. The Foundation’s vision is that every student has the support they need to be successful.”

The Monroe Community College Foundation champions student achievement through a broad spectrum of initiatives. In addition to scholarship support, the MCC Foundation provides emergency financial assistance to address food and housing insecurity, offers childcare aid and parent-focused resources, invests in innovative academic and workforce development programs, and contributes to capital improvements that enrich the campus learning environment.
