Travels with Tiberius: Phi Theta Kappa Regional Conference
November 25, 2024
Members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Monroe Community College joined fellow members at the New York Regional Conference the first weekend in November. Learn more about their trip from MCC member Aniyah Torres and of course, Tiberius!
Aniyah Torres
- Where did you go, and what group went?
- Our group went to the PTK regional conference at Mohawk Valley Community College in Rome, NY.
- Tell us about what you did on your trip.
- We were able to experience multiple presentations on the power of stories from different perspectives. There was even a presentation on Nazi Science and the impact of that knowledge. We also got to spend a lot of time as a group bonding and getting to know our other regional chapters!
- What was your favorite part?
- My personal favorite part was the art therapy we practiced on the last day of the conference. A close second would have to be our breakaway seminar groups. After each presentation, we broke into smaller groups to discuss our thoughts and answer some discussion questions.
Tiberius
- How was the trip for you?
- I had a lot of fun exploring a new area (Rome, NY) and hanging out with the PTK officers! They made sure I was tucked in at night and wearing my seatbelt.
- What was your favorite part?
- I got to find out why America (and ATI) runs on Dunkin. I’ve never seen so many boxes of coffee before. Even so, I think my favorite part was meeting all of the officers of our region (including the international vice president, Alyssa DeFlorentis)
- Would you recommend this trip to a friend?
- I would! There will be another conference in the fall so if you’re interested, get involved with Phi Theta Kappa now and find out how you can attend too!
