L3Harris and MCC Introduce Technical Training Program Sponsorship

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  L3Harris Technologies and Monroe Community College announced today a new program enabling enrolled New York residents to attend the college through a fully funded sponsorship agreement with the L3Harris Technical Training Program.

The 24-month program, developed by L3Harris and MCC, immerses electrical engineering technology students into a professional workplace experience through part-time employment at L3Harris while they pursue their degree. Students will take part in rotational assignments, formal mentorship, and learn technical test and troubleshooting skills to prepare them for success in the workforce.

The L3Harris Technical Training Program, developed in partnership with MCC, provides an immersive 24-month professional workplace experience for MCC students while they pursue their degrees.

“We are thrilled about our partnership with Monroe Community College to educate and inspire the next generation of technicians and engineers,” said Renee Swan, vice president, Human Resources, L3Harris. “It also offers these students a foot in the door to the area’s largest technology and manufacturing employer, L3Harris.”

Thirty students completed MCC’s electrical engineering technology program in the 2020-2021 school year*, following steady enrollment over the past five years. More than 50 students enrolled in the program in fall 2022, and many students receive job offers before earning their associate degree.

“Through the Technical Training Program partnership, MCC students will have valuable opportunities to receive a quality education tuition-free and gain paid work experience in cutting-edge manufacturing systems from industry professionals,” said Dr. Robin Cole Jr., vice president, Economic and Workforce Development and Career Technical Education, Monroe Community College. “As the community’s college, MCC collaborates with employers like L3Harris in uplifting the lives of our students and fulfilling evolving workforce demands.”

“The real-world experience this program provides brings theory to life by applying practical applications to what you’ve learned,” said Ryan Felice, TTP participant and L3Harris manufacturing technician. “If you want the most experience you can get in the electronic engineering field, this program provides everything you need.”
