BRIGHTON, N.Y. – Planning for college can be exciting. Figuring out how to pay for it shouldn’t ruin the thrill. Monroe Community College will host a “College 101 for Parents” workshop on Wednesday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus, 1000 East Henrietta Road. This session is specifically designed to help parents and guardians better understand the process of selecting a college, choosing a major, applying for financial aid and scholarship, and more — no matter where their college-bound children are headed. Students are welcomed to attend.

MCC’s financial aid and admissions experts will answer questions on how to apply for financial aid, what kinds of funds are available, and when the application process should begin.  They will also provide an update to the New York State Excelsior Scholarship. Representatives from SUNY Brockport, Nazareth University, and St. John Fisher University will be on hand to answer questions, including providing information on their admissions process.

The event is free and open to the public. Parking is provided in lots M and M1. To reserve a seat, go online to the College 101 for Parents registration form. Questions: email MCC’s Admissions Office or call (585) 292-2200.
