MCC Tribunes to Return to Field, Kick Off Spring Season
March 10, 2021
After a year off, baseball team opens with doubleheader at home
WHAT: Monroe Community College’s baseball team will start the spring 2021 season with a doubleheader against Genesee Community College on Thursday — the first games to be held on campus since NJCAA competitions were canceled in 2020 over pandemic concerns. MCC Tribunes are the defending Region III champions.
WHERE: MCC’s Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Road (map). Parking is available in lot Q.
WHEN: Thursday, March 11; games start at noon and 2 p.m.
DETAILS: Colleges returning to compete must adhere to sport-specific guidelines and protocols developed collectively by SUNY community colleges as informed by governing athletic associations. The guidelines are also consistent with directives from New York state, local health departments, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Each college’s plans for returning to compete are dependent on local COVID-19 infection rates and its local health department’s approval.
MCC’s spring sports season, which continues through May, will include competitions in soccer and softball plus post-season tournaments. Its season will also include men’s and women’s soccer games that were postponed in the fall because of the pandemic.
