MCC Interim President’s Reaction to the Announcement of SUNY Chancellor Johnson’s Departure

June 4, 2020

“We are grateful to SUNY Chancellor Kristina Johnson for her leadership, vision and contributions, expanding access and opportunity for thousands of MCC students and advocating for reforms to improve the quality of life in Rochester and across the state. Her tireless efforts in ensuring all students have access to the resources they need to succeed are evident in the food pantries on SUNY campuses as well as the system-wide task forces on food insecurity and mental health challenges, which MCC is proud to serve on both. As a result of SUNY Online and Re-enroll to Complete initiatives during her tenure, MCC has seen increased enrollment among fully online students and adults returning to achieve their degrees. Her strong support of MCC and our students was reaffirmed during her 2017 visit. We wish Chancellor Johnson all the best in her future and thank her for her leadership as we prepare to safely deliver high-quality educational experiences to students this fall.”
