MCC to Distribute Laptops to Over 200 Students with Highest Needs
March 26, 2020
Equipment donation, made possible through MCC Foundation, is in response to recent survey
WHAT: Monroe Community College will put laptops in the hands of over 200 MCC students so that they continue their studies and ultimately graduate. Laptops are provided to the students at no cost through philanthropic support to the MCC Foundation.
The students experienced unforeseen financial barriers—including access to technology—that prevented them from continuing their education.
Distribution of the laptops will be done on a staggered schedule to reinforce social distancing throughout next week. Preventive measures will be taken onsite to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
WHERE: Outside the entrance to the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing on MCC’s Brighton Campus, 1000 E. Henrietta Road; parking is provided in lot K.
WHEN: Between 1:30 and 3 p.m. today, March 26, rain or shine.
DETAILS: Last week, over 500 MCC students responded to a survey about their technology needs. Some of the issues identified most frequently include laptop needs and WiFi access. Students demonstrating a need based on their financial aid records were provided laptops at no cost.
