Innermost

As an artist, I create work that engages with the ideas of oppression, liberation, and the friction between the two. Furthermore, my body of work is intended to be a revolutionary endeavor that contributes to the vast history of arts-based activism.

My current Exhibition “INNERMOST” is an exploration of portraiture, identity, and documentation. As an exhibition, INNERMOST seeks to challenge the historical canon of portraiture, by depicting a variety of sitters whose likeness is often absent within our nations museums and artist-oriented spaces. I hope this body of work empowers others, and gives disenfranchised communities voices on their own terms, not the terms projected onto them.

In essence, my artwork seeks to grapple with our struggles toward a fair and just world, including depictions of our attempts, our shortcomings, our failures, and our successes.
