Long-time Rochester resident, Marilyn Anderson will exhibit her relief prints, drawings and photographs in the MCC art gallery. Several examples of textiles by Mayan women weavers will be included. This work focuses on the rich Mayan-Guatemalan arts and craft tradition. Produced based on her years of residence, research and documentation, it graphically celebrates different aspects of a wide array of artesian activities. Anderson has had many exhibits of her prints, drawings and photographs in NYC, Washington DC., Mexico City and Guatemala City among others. She received three NEA awards in the 70s and 80s. Her book Guardians of the Arts / Guardianes de las Artes will be available for purchase at the opening.
