Jeffery “J.S.” Bird
J.S. Bird is an Assistant Professor of Art at Brockport State College. He has had numerous exhibitions throughout the United States. He has a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Massachusetts, Masters of Arts from the State University of New York at Oswego, and a BS in Art Education from College at St. Rose.
“Through the traditional medium of painting on canvas, I attempt to create an allegory that incorporates myth, spirit, the natural world, personal identity, and issues of manhood. Art for me is a forum to explore and give form to my place in the order of the cosmos, and in the tradition of sacred art which travels through all of human history to its source in the Paleolithic caves”. – J.S.
