Summer Skies: The Perseids
January 27 through February 24, 2006
Opening Reception: Friday, January 27, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Harold Coogan has an MFA from Visual Studies Workshop. He has had numerous exhibitions throughout the United States and Canada. He is currently teaching Photography and Multi-media at Honeoye Falls High School. He was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in Tokyo, Japan in 2004.
This exhibition is the current installment of a long-term project that evolves in use of media and approaches. Specific works are created to address the unique parameters of the exhibition site. “The nominal subject of this exhibit is based on my lifelong fascination with the meteor shower of the same name. Many important transitional moments in my life have coincided with this annual August event. My reflections on the nature of this recurring celestial phenomena and its symbolism have given rise to a continually changing and multifaceted body of work. While the constituent particles of the shower have existed since time immemorial, we can only enjoy their fleeting images as they hurl to their destruction. Make a wish… ,” states Coogan
