While these can be very helpful for sited visitors, they are not accessible to screen readers. In order to ensure that everyone is able to access information, we need to change the way we present information.<\/p>\n<h2>Organizational Charts<\/h2>\n<p>We will require a text version as the primary means of displaying organizational charts on the website. A PDF depicting a graphical version of the charts may also be included as an option. If a PDF is included, it must include a text version of the chart. The <a title=\"Opens external link in new window\" href=\"https:\/\/ung.edu\/about\/structure\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">University of North Georgia<\/a> has a great example of web pages with text versions of each department\u2019s organizational chart.<\/p>\n<h2>Process Flow Charts<\/h2>\n<p>We will require a text version to be included in PDFs containing process flow charts. Under English for Speakers of Other Languages, there is\u00a0an example of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/fileadmin\/SiteFiles\/GeneralContent\/depts\/esol\/documents\/ESOL_Flowchart.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">PDF that contains both graphical and text versions of a process flow chart<\/a> to make the content accessible to all.<\/p>\n<h2>Exceptions<\/h2>\n<p>In some cases, the format is dictated by an outside entity. For example, Public Safety&#8217;s <a title=\"Opens PDF in new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/go\/security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Annual Safety and Security Report (PDF)<\/a> was based on guidelines set by the government. The PDF of this report contained tables with merged cells, making them difficult to understand with a screen reader. As an alternative, <a title=\"Opens internal link in new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/depts\/pstd\/mcc-annual-security-and-fire-safety-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">accessible versions of the tables<\/a> were added to the website. An accessibility statement was added to the first page of the document and below each table, with links to the web versions.
