Exceptions to these standards may be made if strategically and\/or technologically warranted.<\/p>\n<ul>\n\t<li>Web pages will have page titles that follow the format:\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Area landing page: UNIT NAME | Monroe Community College | Rochester, NY<\/li>\n\t<li>Area interior pages: Page Name | UNIT NAME | Monroe Community College<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\t<li>Pages will have a natural-language URL.<\/li>\n\t<li>Pages will include a 150-character page description.<\/li>\n\t<li>Pages will be in compliance with <a title=\"Opens internal link in current window\" href=\"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/web-standards\/accessibility\/create-accessible-content\/create-accessible-content-web-pages\/\">ADA standards<\/a>.<\/li>\n\t<li>Pages will be responsive and mobile-friendly.<\/li>\n\t<li>Filenames will follow MCC\u2019s web\/digital file naming conventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Navigation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n\t<li>Each unit\u2019s individual set of web pages will have a section-specific main navigation. The main navigation will include the designated primary, or \u201cparent,\u201d navigation items as outlined below, and each parent navigation item may also show up to 5 sub, or \u201cchild,\u201d navigation items upon rollover\/click.<\/li>\n\t<li>A section\u2019s main navigation should link primarily to pages within that same section\/area. Links to pages outside the section\u2019s web presence should open in a new tab\/window.<\/li>\n\t<li>Navigation tips:\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>As your site has grown, are the most important pages still near the top? Review your page order whenever you make changes.<\/li>\n\t<li>Consider combining pages when two pages have scant information on them.<\/li>\n\t<li>Consult with Marketing &amp; Web to review your site so it is organized and focused.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Content<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n\t<li>Units will be responsible for the content of their pages.<\/li>\n\t<li>Content will be created and posted with a focus primarily on the external audience.\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Develop good content that is concise, engaging and useful to your audience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\t<li>Images used in pages will contain alternative text (\u201calt-text\u201d).<\/li>\n\t<li>Content (text &amp; images) will be used within copyright allowances and guidelines. If copyright permissions for a specific image are unclear, it will not be used.<\/li>\n\t<li>Pages may not advertise, endorse, link to or include logos for for-profit or external entities anywhere on www.monroecc.edu. Exceptions may be made with service or non-profit organizations with whom MCC has a partnership or memorandum of understanding. Pages may credit an external entity as a source of information or copyright owner.<\/li>\n\t<li>Grammar, spelling, and punctuation must be consistent and correct, as per the AP Stylebook, Merriam-Webster Dictionary, MCC Named Facilities Guide, and any other stylistic standards set by MCC\u2019s Marketing and Community Relations Department.<\/li>\n\t<li>Consistency\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Majors &amp; Programs information across the site will link to or feed from central, approved program pages as found in the College\u2019s main <a title=\"Opens internal link in new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/academics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Academics<\/a> section.<\/li>\n\t<li>Campus location, direction and map information across the site will link to the appropriate section in the College\u2019s central <a title=\"Opens internal link in new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/about-mcc\/locations-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Location &amp; Maps<\/a> pages.\u00a0<\/li>\n\t<li>Each section\u2019s landing page will include that unit\u2019s main email address, physical location, and phone number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\t<li>Downloadable documents will be in PDF format unless another format is required for interactivity. Images will be in .jpg or .gif format.<\/li>\n\t<li>Downloadable documents will open in in a new window\/tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Administrative-Focused Units<\/h2>\n<p>(ex.
