A note about messing things up!<\/h1>\n

As a web liaison, you are responsible for keeping the content (information) on your website up to date-and accurate. There are some areas, however, that you should not be changing as even a minor change can have larger ramifications on the website and unintentionally create broken links.<\/p>\n

Anatomy of a URL and why you should care:<\/h2>\n

https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/about-mcc\/locations-maps\/brighton-campus\/<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. monroecc.edu<\/strong> is the address to the MCC home page (domain)
    www.monroe.edu<\/strong> is a different place\/domain<\/li>\n\t
  2. https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/about-mcc<\/strong>\/ is the path to the first page in a grouping of pages.
    \nChanging that page name to \/all-about-mcc<\/strong>\/ would break any links to that grouping.<\/li>\n\t
  3. https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/about-mcc\/Locations & Maps<\/strong>\/ is a page within that grouping.
    \nGuess what happens if the page name is changed, or the page is hidden?<\/li>\n\t
  4. Brighton Campus <\/strong>is a link to a PDF file \u2013 pdf<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\t
  5. Make sure any file updates have the exact same file name when uploaded to TYPO3 and make sure you have chosen to overwrite existing files<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>

    • Page name changes<\/li>\n\t
    • \u201cHiding\u201d a page (the whole page not just one or two content elements on a page)<\/li>\n\t
    • Adding a new page<\/li>\n\t
    • Changing the Faculty\/Staff contact page (this one is Telephone Directory request)<\/li>\n\t
    • Rearranging pages<\/li>\n<\/ul>
