We have been tabling in the Atrium to encourage students to vote, use their voices, and become more involved in the MCC community. I believe it is important for students to know that their opinions matter and that they have opportunities to participate in shaping their college experience.\u00a0 Last week, I also had the honor of helping host MCC\u2019s 9\/11 Remembrance Ceremony with my fellow Student Government leaders. It was a very meaningful and emotional event, and we were honored to have Paul Dondorfer as our keynote speaker. It was an important opportunity for our campus community to come together, remember those who lost their lives, and recognize the first responders, families, and individuals whose lives were forever changed.\u00a0 We have also been preparing for Constitution Day on September 17. I have been working with the SGA team to make sure everyone is prepared and understands their role for the event. I am excited about the work we have ahead of us and look forward to continuing to represent and serve the MCC student body throughout the academic year.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\t I had the opportunity to further build on my leadership skills by attending an emerging leadership training badge meeting on Wednesday of the past week, I also gave and engaged with the other members of SGA to see how best we could drum up support for the turbovote campaign. I also participated in the 9\/11 service in which I gave a very profound poem which melted the hearts of all, I had the pleasure of networking with the many dignitaries who attended the event, the overall ceremony was done well from all SGA members from the members like President Gona Abdullah, student Trustee Smetanyak, Uruba Harris senator, and speakers such as President of the College Burt-Nana, and the various speakers, the message and whole tone of the ceremony truly honored those who were lost and who gave their lives to restore faith in the country. I then attended the Leadership training with amongst other student leaders, I learned many topics on how to be an effective leader and fun. I hope everyone had a truly wonderful weekend and that we all have a productive week academically and in other endeavors we participate in throughout our student career.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\t For the week of 9\/7-9\/11, The SGA council meeting was held on Tuesday that went smoothly and resolutions were handled accordingly. Last week consisted of preparing for the 9\/11 ceremony, which went wonderfully as every SGA member played their part with excellence. I was glad to be a part of such a beautiful ceremony and honor those who we lost 25 years ago during the attack. Furthermore, I have taken on the responsibility of scheduling SGA members to take on tabling, engaging with students to register for Turbo Vote, throughout the following weeks of school.\u00a0 Our first 3 weeks of Student Government have been just getting started, and I can confidently say we are on the right track to becoming a great government for our students.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n\t Good afternoon everyone, This week, we conducted a heartfelt Remembrance Ceremony led by our SGA President, Gona Abdullah. Members of the college and surrounding community came together to commemorate and honor the lives lost during the events of 9\/11. The ceremony included a broad program from the Pledge of Allegiance, all the way to firsthand accounts of what occurred that September morning.\u00a0 Additionally, SGA has begun organizing plans and activities for Constitution Day to promote civic engagement and awareness among students. I have also been scheduling my office hours in the Student Government room so that I can remain accessible to students and address any questions, concerns, or ideas they may have.\u00a0 I have also been scheduling my tabling hours to support voter engagement through TurboVote. \nThis week, the Student Government Association organized and participated in Monroe Community College\u2019s September 11th Memorial Ceremony. The ceremony brought members of the MCC community together to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to recognize the courage and sacrifices of first responders and everyone affected by the events of that day. SGA worked together to make sure the ceremony was conducted in a respectful and meaningful way and provided an opportunity for our College community to come together in remembrance.\u00a0 SGA also continued promoting TurboVote to encourage greater civic engagement among students. We are working to make students more aware of voting, voter registration, and the resources available to help them participate in upcoming elections. Through promoting TurboVote across campus, our goal is to make voting information easier to access and encourage more MCC students to become involved in the democratic process.<\/li>\n\t

\nGood afternoon, everyone, my name is Christian Escalera and I\u2019m the secretary of governance here in SGA throughout these couple weeks, I attended my first SGA public meeting, and helped with the organization of our 9\/11 memorial ceremony, during the event, I handed out the pins for our guest and helped make sure everyone felt welcomed and comfortable<\/li>\n\t
\nGood Afternoon Everyone! This past week has been very productive! I participated in running a Turbo-Vote table to encourage our students to register to vote and to check their status of registration. I also attended a rehearsal for our September 11th<\/sup> ceremony and helped present the wreath during the ceremony along with helping work at the welcoming table. I attended an introductory meeting for the Emerging Leaders badge through our Student Life and Leadership Development office and can\u2019t wait to see what that program has to offer. I attended our Student Leadership Training on September 12th<\/sup> and learned many new things that I hope to carry through the rest of the year. I also helped with the grand opening of the new building for the new Advanced Technology Center, helping with whatever they needed. Finally, I signed up to participate in our Student Life Fair that is coming up and am excited to see what we have planned for that and the opportunity to connect with other student leaders and students<\/li>\n\t
\nThis past week, I had the honor of opening our campus 9\/11 Remembrance Ceremony, representing the Student Government Association during a deeply meaningful event for our college community. Following the ceremony, I have been working closely alongside Jose to prepare for our upcoming Club Council meeting this Tuesday. Together, we have been finalizing the agenda, and ensuring everything is in place to effectively support our student organizations and lead a productive session.<\/li>\n\t
\nGood afternoon everyone,\u00a0During the second week of the fall semester, I attended the second public meeting of the fall semester. I had a great experience seeing everyone and reading the music association resolution. I got a better hang on how the public meetings go and how to motion. I also tabled Monday and Wednesday! SGA has currently gotten 28 students to register to vote. I helped prep for the 9\/11 ceremony. Senator Harris and I worked together to come up with some ideas for the up-and-coming clubs and organizations public meeting. I also attended the 9\/11 ceremony and with the help from Senator Smith they both carried the wreath to the memorial.\u00a0<\/li>\n\t
\nGood afternoon, everyone. I hope your weekend was restful and peaceful. Last week, I had the honor of participating in the 9\/11 Remembrance ceremony held at the 9\/11 Memorial outside Building 10. During this important time, my team members and I paid our respects to the fallen heroes of that tragedy that happened long ago but still feels recent in our hearts. During the ceremony, my team urged members to sign thank-you cards that we sent to our brave service members. My team and I also received training last Saturday that allowed us to meet face-to-face with the clubs and their members, which allowed for more personal connection with other students.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li>\n\t
\nGood evening, everyone I am excited to say that I have enjoyed my second week of being back at Monroe Community College, and that I am looking forward to what the rest of the year has to offer. This week, I attended the weekly Tuesday senate meeting with the rest of the SGA team. The team was excited to share our ideas for the year and approve resolutions that were presented to us in the previous week. I very much enjoyed the 9\/11 ceremony that the SGA team organized. I enjoyed seeing everyone’s hard work come together and seeing all the people that showed up to remember the sad event that took place on that day. I thought that everyone who spoke, spoke with grace and confidence during the ceremony. After the ceremony, I attended the teams weekly Friday pre-agenda meeting where we as a team discussed tabling for TurboVote and what we would be doing for Constitution Day. I hope that everyone has a lovely rest of their day!
