Section II \u2013 Procedures for Filing for Office<\/h1>\n

  1. Eligibility to Hold Office
    \nTo be eligible to run for and\/or hold office, a candidate must be a duly registered student at Monroe Community College.\n\n
      \n\t
    1. To be eligible to run for and\/or hold office of the Student Government President, Vice President, or Student Senator, the candidate must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25, not be on academic or disciplinary probation, and be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours at Monroe Community College during the semester in which elections are held and maintain that status throughout their term of office.\u00a0 A student in their first semester can run for a position as Student Senator, President, or Vice President provided they have been matriculated in an academic program at Monroe Community College.\u00a0 The Student Government Association President, Vice President and Senators must be taking the majority of their classes on the Brighton Campus.<\/li>\n\t
    2. The Student Government advisor shall be responsible to ascertain the eligibility of each candidate filing a petition prior to the printing of the ballots.<\/li>\n\t
    3. The Elections Commission members shall not be eligible for elected office.<\/li>\n\t
    4. All candidates shall be restricted to running for one position only throughout the duration of elections\/campaigning:\u00a0 said rule shall cease at conclusion of elections.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\t
    5. Forms
      \nA student seeking office within the Student Government Association must complete an application.\n\n
        \n\t
      1. Application Form<\/a>:\u00a0 Students desiring to run for the position of President, Vice President, or Senator must first acquire an application form.\u00a0 Applications should be completed by the deadline on the application form.\u00a0 Application information should include candidate\u2019s name, address, phone number, email address, student ID number, the title of the position student is seeking, the curriculum program, semester enrolled, cumulative grade point average, and number of credit hours currently enrolled in, and anticipated credit hours for the following semester.\u00a0 Applications should also include a statement indicating the reason why the student would like to serve in Student Government.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
