Reports

  1. President Romero

On Thursday, November 21st, President Romero met with Culture Alliance to discuss Spring Semester plans and collaborations next semester, such as Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Asian American Pacific Heritage Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month. President Romero is contacting the Title 9 Office to see if they would like to collaborate for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Later on, President Romero met with MCC Association Executive Director Ginny Geer Mentry, HR/Executive Assistant Justin Leenhouts, and Finance Manager Teri Best to help prepare him to lead the MCCA Board meeting later that day. He would review the script again for the meeting and ask questions to help ensure the meeting goes well. Right after this, he met with Dr. Ryan Messenger to talk about his journey as a student leader, what he expected, and what he did not expect as a student leader at MCC. President Romero spoke about his positive experience since joining SGA and how he had grown there. It was a great conversation that he could have, and he wants to thank Dr. Messenger for the meeting. After this, he attended the MCCA Operations & Personnel Meeting, where the committee members discussed a few items, such as the Res Hall Rates for 2025-2026 and the Dining Survey conducted at the Brighton and Downtown campus to get the feeling the community is feeling about the dining services at MCC. After this, the MCCA Board met, where they discussed these items again with the rest of the board, and they also saw the quarterly financial statement. Overall, this meeting was great, and he was happy to run the Board Meeting. On Monday, November 25th, President Romero attended the PTK Member meeting where PTK President Mara Waynick’s Nana, Margaret Waynick, talked to PTK Members about leadership and how even when you lead, you are still learning. Afterward, they did a fun activity where everyone handed in a Turkey and put what they were thankful for.
