Reports

  1. President Romero

On Monday, September 30th, President Romero met up with Karen Shaw and Katherine Shohr of the MCC Foundation, where he helped create a video to Introduce Sheila M. Strong, one of the MCC Alumni who will get inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame on the Salute to Excellence event. After this, President Romero would join in on a meeting with fellow members of the Peace Committee, Students in the community, President Dr. Burt Nanna, and the rest of the Executive Leadership Team to discuss the main goals of the Peace Committee and the Campus Climate regarding about safety, and belonging in the community, to ensure we can educate members of the MCC Community. This was a very productive meeting; hearing from other perspectives and sharing with President Burt Nanna was good. Hence, she can hear how the community feels regarding what is going on on campus. On Tuesday, October 1st, President Romero and some members of SGA met with the Muslim Student Association to collaborate and help out with MSA’s charity week event, which will occur at MCC near the end of October. The event aims to raise charity money to address various global issues. SGA will help spread awareness around the community by asking other community members if they can help volunteer with MSA and support them in any way. Later that day, SGA hosted the Vice President Debate Watch Party, where members of the MCC Community were invited to watch the Vice President Debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz. News stations help covered this event and interviewed a few students, including President Romero. In the end, He and VP Crimmins had a small Discussion to see how everyone felt after the debate, what they thought stood out to them, and if this changed anything. On Wednesday, October 2nd, President Romero attended the Peace Committee meeting with fellow members to finalize the October 7th calling for peace event. They delegated work that would be done at the event and finalized the script. After this, he attended the College Orientation Committee, where they discussed the committee’s purpose and what work would be done on it. They have assigned the PowerPoint work, what should be on it, and who will work on what. Lastly, on Saturday, October 5th, President Romero and a few SGA members were part of the “Be Inspired Team” for the 5k walk/run. They ran to help fundraise for scholarships and win scholarships. This was his 3rd time doing it, and he was glad to walk in this race. He wanted to first recognize Chief of Staff Liam Krieger and Veteran Senator Shawn Sanchez for assisting someone who did help someone injured and making sure the individual was okay. Also, congratulations to VP Crimmins for winning a scholarship at the event.
