{"id":574,"date":"2021-05-18T20:52:36","date_gmt":"2021-05-18T20:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/?p=574"},"modified":"2024-08-30T11:12:25","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T15:12:25","slug":"more-than-1800-mcc-students-to-earn-degrees-and-certificates-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/2021\/05\/18\/more-than-1800-mcc-students-to-earn-degrees-and-certificates-2\/","title":{"rendered":"More Than 1,800 MCC Students to Earn Degrees and Certificates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Note:\u00a0 News media may click the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/monroecc.stageclip.com\/ceremony\/school-of-applied-sciences-and-technologies-4359e\"><em>link<\/em><\/a><em> here on Thursday evening to view the ceremony recognizing graduates from MCC\u2019s School of Applied Sciences and Technologies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Monroe Community College\u2019s 58<sup>th<\/sup> annual Commencement ceremony this week will be a virtual celebration for the more than 1,800 graduates who will earn degrees and certificates as members of the MCC class of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates, family members, friends and the community at large may participate in the ceremony, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, via a <a href=\"https:\/\/monroecc.stageclip.com\">link<\/a> &lt;<a href=\"https:\/\/monroecc.stageclip.com\">https:\/\/monroecc.stageclip.com<\/a>&gt;. Virtual walks across the stage will be held to recognize graduates within their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecc.edu\/schools\/\">Schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Featured speakers for the event will include MCC President\u00a0Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna,\u00a0Acting Vice President of Student Services\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/2021\/05\/03\/more-than-1800-mcc-students-to-earn-degrees-and-certificates\/\">Dr. Kimberly McKinsey-Mabry<\/a> \u201995 who will deliver the \u201cMessage to the Graduates,\u201d\u00a0student keynote speaker Soleil Williams, and MCC Board of Trustees Chairperson Allen K. Williams.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_577\" style=\"width: 249px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-577\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-577\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/05\/Evan-Baldwin-headshot-239x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evan Baldwin<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Congratulatory greetings to the graduates will also come from elected officials and community leaders, including U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren, and SUNY Trustee and Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Duffy.<\/p>\n<p>MCC\u2019s newest graduates will apply their MCC education to the local workforce and to advanced studies at area colleges. Among them:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evan Baldwin, <\/strong>who immersed himself in the world of precision machining throughout his years at MCC and will receive an associate degree on May 20. His achievements likely will also be recognized by his employer, a Rochester advanced manufacturing company where he has worked as a full-time CNC operator since April.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_578\" style=\"width: 243px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-578\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-578\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/files\/2021\/05\/Byron-Wah-headshot-233x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-578\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Byron Wah<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Byron Wah, <\/strong>who will earn a business administration degree and continue his studies in accounting at SUNY Brockport this fall.
