{"id":533,"date":"2021-04-27T18:59:24","date_gmt":"2021-04-27T18:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/?p=533"},"modified":"2024-08-30T11:13:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T15:13:02","slug":"mcc-students-promote-a-sense-of-community-pride-and-inclusiveness-through-original-photography-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/news\/2021\/04\/27\/mcc-students-promote-a-sense-of-community-pride-and-inclusiveness-through-original-photography-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"MCC Students Promote a Sense of Community Pride and Inclusiveness through Original Photography Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Hosted by MCC\u2019s Institute for the Humanities, event includes interactive, virtual forum <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT: <\/strong>To instill a sense of pride in our region\u2019s rich history of activism, Monroe Community College\u2019s Institute for the Humanities engaged students, educators and local multimedia artists to explore how lessons from the past can help us build a more inclusive community.<\/p>\n<p>The project culminates in a virtual forum and photography exhibition, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/humanities\/events\/\">\u201cCulture, History, and Memory: Bridging Rochester\u2019s Past and Present.\u201d<\/a> Wednesday\u2019s event will focus on the crossroads of politics, history, and photography and the ways photographic images have helped shape our understanding of historical figures and events.<\/p>\n<p>MCC photography and political science students worked together to identify photographs and quotes of historic figures such as Susan B.
