This total surpasses the previous record of $1.65 million in awards. Seventy-six percent of the scholarships awarded were based on financial need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MCC Foundation is a champion of our mission to transform lives and communities by providing scholarships that enable students to attend college who might not otherwise be able to,\u201d said Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, Monroe Community College President. \u201cTogether as one, we are creating bright futures by unlocking opportunities for students to pursue higher education degrees and certificates, which lead to family-sustaining wages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFoundation Directors and dedicated donors are motivated to invest in MCC students because they see their impact on our community every day,\u201d said Maureen Wolfe, executive vice president and director of human resources and community impact at ESL and chair of the MCC Foundation Board of Directors. \u201cIt is a privilege to work with these outstanding leaders to ensure MCC has the resources it needs to help every student succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis achievement reflects the passion, dedication, and generosity of our entire MCC community,\u201d said Gretchen Wood, CFRE, vice president, Institutional Advancement, and executive director, MCC Foundation. \u201cWe extend our sincerest gratitude to our hardworking students, exceptional faculty and staff, and to the donors whose support turns dreams into reality. The Foundation\u2019s vision is that every student has the support they need to be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Monroe Community College Foundation champions student achievement through a broad spectrum of initiatives.
