He is responsible for running Public Safety operations at the Brighton Campus during the day shift (7AM-3PM).<\/p>\n<p>Hillmon graduated from Rush-Henrietta and is a proud MCC alumnus.<\/p>\n<p>He hadn\u2019t considered a career in law enforcement until it came time to choose a college major. \u201cI made the decision to go into criminal justice because I thought working in Parole or Probation would be something I liked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hillmon got a student aide job with Public Safety and the rest is history!<\/p>\n<p>He fondly remembers being appointed class sergeant during his six-month police academy training for the peace officer position. Chosen by class counselors, a class sergeant serves as part of the command staff for half of the class.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his years at MCC, Hillmon recalled a particularly funny moment when he was put in charge as a sergeant for the very first time. \u201cDuring that shift, I received a radio call that there was a turkey in a suite in Tribune Hall. I thought that someone was playing a joke because of the nature of the call\u2026\u201d he said. However, upon his arrival, there was a live turkey inside one of the suites! The wild turkey flew in through a first-floor window and couldn\u2019t find its way back out. And in case you\u2019re wondering &#8211; Hillmon can confirm the turkey was safely returned to the outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what advice he\u2019d give current MCC students, Hillmon said, \u201cFollow your own path, find yourself, and work hard!\u201d \u00a0For students considering enrolling, Hillmon said, \u201cStop considering and start doing, it\u2019s a great place to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Outside of MCC, Sam coaches Boys Varsity Lacrosse for Rush-Henrietta and the 2031 FCA Upstate Navy Boy\u2019s Lacrosse team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun Facts About Sam<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Courtney: If you had to eat the same meal at least once a day, what would it be?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: Burgers.<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: What is your favorite movie?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: Friday, Strangers, Goodfellas, The Fourth Kind\u2026 got to have variety!<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: What is your favorite sports team?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (looong before Brady)<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: What is your biggest fear?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: Losing important people.<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: Is there anything about you that people are surprised to learn?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: I enjoy a lot of different genres of music.<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: If you could attend a dinner with any celebrity, living or dead, who would you choose?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: Kobe.<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: Do you prefer staying up late or waking up early in the morning?<\/li>\n<li>Sam: A busy schedule makes it so I prefer both. Haha!<\/li>\n<li>Courtney: Share the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you.<\/li>\n<li>Sam: When you are counted on to make a decision, make it!
