(Rochester, NY) \u2014 Today, Congressman Joe Morelle was joined by Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and Monroe Community College (MCC) President Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna to announce a $3.5 million Community Project Funding award to expand MCC\u2019s Applied Technologies Center (ATC). Congressman Morelle worked alongside Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand to secure the funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations Package.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy providing opportunities through hands-on training, apprenticeships and career guides, the MCC Applied Technologies Center is already producing much-needed talent for our regional workforce,\u201d said Congressman Joe Morelle<\/strong><\/b>. \u201cNow, thanks to $3.5 million in funding I helped secure, they\u2019ll be able to expand highly successful programs housed in ATC to help connect more students with the tools, resources and experience they need to thrive in the workforce. I\u2019m grateful to President Burt-Nanna and County Executive Bello for envisioning this project, as well as Senators Schumer and Gillibrand for their partnership in delivering funding for this program that will help strengthen our local economy and create opportunity for working families.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMCC is focused on strengthening the talent pipeline to ensure a robust technician workforce moving forward across the Finger Lakes region. With federal funding support, MCC will be able to offer increased opportunities for more residents, especially those in historically underrepresented communities, to earn industry-recognized credentials and immediately begin high-demand careers that pay family-sustaining wages,\u201d\u00a0said MCC President DeAnna R. The Applied Technologies Center at Monroe Community College offers students in-demand career opportunities through technical education and industry-based training. The new center will offer additional programming related to automotive technologies; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; precision machining; and optical systems technology to serve more MCC students.<\/p>\n
