PSY 205 syllabus (PDF)<\/a> (Social Psychology)<\/strong>. Textbook note for fall and spring: The book will be available in the bookstore<\/a> (should be about $110, but is also available elsewhere in different formats). The book is Aronson’s The Social Animal (12th ed.)<\/cite>, ISBN:\u00a09781464144189.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is an additional paperback “reader” (now 8th edition), Readings in Social Psychology<\/cite> (by Lesko, ISBN: 0205179673). It will be available in the bookstore. Note:<\/strong> If money is an issue, I will provide all of the additional readings as pdf files in BrightSpace (not the main textbook, just these additional readings). You will<\/em> be held responsible for these readings on tests. Furthermore, I will provide chapters from other books on BrightSpace to cover some material that is not in The Social Animal<\/cite>.<\/p>\n

PSY 101:<\/strong> Buy the book ASAP – the first test (covering “Module 1”) is at the end of the third week of class. The syllabus is found inside the online classroom (textbook information is also there). The bookstore may show multiple book options listed as “either\/or”; buy one<\/strong> of those. If there is one with LL in its name, it is loose-leaf pages, and you’ll need a 3-ring binder for it; an ebook is only electronic; a normal paperback should also be available. Each should come “with Access,” which refers to an online homework system. You will need the new 4th edition of the book. PSY 101-Honors syllabus (PDF)<\/a> (Honors section of 101)<\/strong>. There is one inexpensive book to purchase, and an e-book of Psychology for PSY-101-Honors @ MCC<\/em><\/a> is free. The book to purchase is a trade paperback: Lilienfeld’s 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology<\/cite> (ISBN: 9781405131124, about $25 and available anywhere).<\/p>\n

PSY 166 syllabus (PDF)<\/a><\/strong> (Superstitions<\/strong>; spring semester only) There are two inexpensive books to purchase: Lilienfeld’s 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology<\/cite> (ISBN: 9781405131124, about $25 and available anywhere), and Mlodinow’s Subliminal <\/em>(ISBN 9780307472250, maybe $10 used online).<\/p>\n

PSY 220 syllabus (PDF)<\/a> (Research Methods in Social Sciences).<\/strong> This course is online. There is one textbook: Beth Morling’s Research Methods in Psychology<\/em>\u00a0(ISBN: 978-0-393-53622-5). This is the 4th edition; you can use the 3rd edition if you have that.<\/p>\n

Online classes (PSY 101-SL1 and -SL2, and PSY-220) operate in the online learning environment called BrightSpace. You can find a login link through the MyMCC home page<\/a>. (Log in using your entire MCC email address and associated password. You should see our class listed once logged in.)<\/p>\n
