{"id":2859,"date":"2025-01-27T14:07:47","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T14:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/mercer\/?page_id=2859"},"modified":"2025-01-28T19:24:10","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T19:24:10","slug":"craig-matis-2024","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/mercer\/craig-matis-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Craig Matis 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Craig Matis<\/h1>\n<h2><strong><em>THE SONGBOOKS OF CRAIG MATIS<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In its early days, my alternative rock band, Uzizi, incorporated its live performances with slide visuals of my artwork, long before there was YouTube and PowerPoint presentations.\u00a0 Being an artist, as well as a musician, designing what I coined as \u201csongbooks\u201d later became a format which seemed to be a natural extension of the band experience.\u00a0 In a gallery setting, the viewer is involved with the songbooks by looking at the images, all of which tell a story, while listening to the song via a smartphone app.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRocking Horse\u201d, which addresses the subject of dementia, was designed as a songbook with 16 images.
