{"id":166,"date":"2006-05-26T13:11:44","date_gmt":"2006-05-26T13:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/dshaw\/?p=166"},"modified":"2019-03-15T15:22:39","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T15:22:39","slug":"biography","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.monroecc.edu\/dshaw\/biography\/","title":{"rendered":"Biography"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Biography<\/h1>\n<p><span class=\"text-left container\">Dr. David Shaw holds degrees from the <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.berklee.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Berklee College of Music<\/a> in both audio engineering and music synthesis, from the <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peabody.jhu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Peabody Conservatory<\/a> of <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jhu.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Johns Hopkins University<\/a> in computer music composition (computer science\/composition) and from the <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/arts.unco.edu\/music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">University of Northern Colorado<\/a> in theory, composition, and history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Prior to teaching at MCC, Shaw was on the faculty of the <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oneonta.edu\/academics\/music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">State University of New York at Oneonta<\/a>, where he directed the recording studios and jazz ensemble and taught courses in audio engineering and music technology. He also taught theory and composition at the <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.arts.unco.edu\/music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">University of Northern Colorado<\/a> and was a Design Engineer for <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.artproaudio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Applied Research and Technology<\/a> (A. R. T. Electronics), where he designed signal-processing algorithms for their current line of digital sound processors. He presently beta tests their products and serves on their New Product Development Board.<\/p>\n<p>Shaw has composed and produced for film, television and multimedia, with clients such as <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Apple Computer<\/a>, <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonian.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">the Smithsonian<\/a>, and <a title=\"Opens external link in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cousteau.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">the Cousteau Society<\/a>, to name a few.
