About Social Media at MCC

What is the purpose of social media at MCC?

Official MCC social media accounts aim to foster communities for those with similar interests and share information with those communities. Social media accounts allow the College to engage in conversation with our audiences, helping us understand what is important to them. Although these accounts are run by a variety of groups and individuals at the college, there are certain standards that are common to them all.

Why are social media standards important?

MCC maintains an interest in how it is portrayed on social media because the College’s brand and well-earned reputation are very important to us. Adopt best practices to avoid spreading inconsistent or incorrect information and to get the most out of your social media account while respecting the privacy and rights of others. Note that this in no way is meant to infringe on the scholarly, academic, or personal use of any social media platform.

Who uses social media at MCC?

There are a number of College social media sites used to support institutional initiatives, share information, and encourage community. These institutional accounts are administered in the Marketing & Web Department and include the following:

Other approved accounts are maintained by departments, organizations, or other groups under the MCC umbrella.

Before you open an account, become familiar with the platform. You want to make sure you have the right tool for the job. Platform help is available on each social media site and our social media specialist David Hoy is only a phone call away.
